Magnepan introduced its new Model 1.7 ribbon speakers powered by Bryton 4B-SST amplifiers. At $1,999, the 1.7s are easily the bargain of the century. They could easily sell for two or three times that amount . They were one of the few speakers at the show that disappeared. The only downside is that they are large - larger than the 1.6s they replace. The speaker in the center is Magnepan’s $3,000 two-panel CCR center channel. The bottom panel, which provides the bass, also doubles as a stand.

Magnepan also showed a prototype of its Mini Maggie desktop speaker system. Not shown is the bass module which sits under the desk. Estimated price is less than $2,000; how much less has not been determined.
