Tom Lyle has posted a review of the Talon Thunderbird subwoofer ($12,000) and Rives sub-PARC Amp/Crossover/EQ combo unit ($5000) at Enjoy the Music. His conclusions:
“The Talon Thunderbird subwoofer and the Rives sub-PARC amplifier/crossover/EQ are an exceptional pairing. The Talon Thunderbird is a passive speaker that reproduces low frequencies with pitch perfect precision, reaching below the threshold of hearing while maintaining its musicality. That it looks so cool while performing the task is icing on the cake. The Rives sub-PARC is an outboard subwoofer amplifier and crossover than smokes any onboard subwoofer controls that claim to adjust the sound to one’s liking, and with a Rives/Talon dealer’s assistance, will make the subwoofer seamlessly integrate with not only one’s main speakers, but the room itself with a level of accuracy that I once though unimaginable. Bravo.”
