The Amphion and Hegel Room
Hegel relied on Amphion’s Argon 7L loudspeakers ($7995/pair) powered by its own H30 monoblocks ($15,000/pair) to highlight the differences among its DACs. Given show conditions, I was hard pressed to detect any differences, but others were bobbing their heads up and down and smiling.
The Hegel components from top to bottom are the HD2 DAC ($350), the HD11 DAC ($1200), the HD20 DAC ($2000) and the H70 integrated amplifier with built-in DAC ($1995). All were connected to a MacBook Pro via USB.
