The Burmester and Wisdom Audio Room
Wisdom Audio had its huge LS4 planar-magnetic on-wall loudspeakers ($80,000/pair) in a large conference room. My guess is that at least two Wisdom STS subwoofers were hiding behind the curtain. As it was the first room I visited when the show opened, they were just getting set up and I did not have a chance for a demo. Based on prior auditions, I’m sure the presentation would have been extremely dynamic and on a scale not often experienced. It was my loss not to have made it back for a listen.
Each loudspeaker array was powered by a Burmester 911 Mk3 monoblock ($29,995 each).
A laptop was used as the source with a Burmester 088 preamplifier ($28,995) and a Burmester 948 power conditioner ($7995). Wisdoms’s SC-1 System Controller, which incorporates an electronic crossover and Audyssey MultEQ® XT acoustic room correction, sits just under the laptop.
