The Audio Power Labs and Extreme Audio Room

It seems Audio Power Labs chooses a new speaker with which to demonstrate its 833TNT monoblocks ($180,000/pair) at every show. This year they paired up with Extreme Audio who supplied a pair of their Leonardo Model 8 ribbon-planar loudspeakers ($65,000/pair).

The psychedelic black lighting shows off the amplifier’s 833 broadcast tubes at their finest.

The company must be struggling. The 883NT amplifiers have been out now for two years and Audio Power Labs lists only three dealers on its website, one of which is Laufer-Teknik, who supplied its own The Memory Player 64 music server ($14,950) for the show.

The graphical user interface leaves a lot to be desired for such an expensive product.

I can’t comment on the sound because the room was quiet when I was there and I didn’t see anyone available to do a demo.
