The Sutherland Engineering and Venture Room

Sutherland Engineering choose to demonstrate its new line of components with the Venture Encore loudspeakers ($46,000).

The Source was the AMG Viella turntable with 12J2 tonearm and wood skirt (together, $16,500). Cartridge unknown.

This is the control unit for the Sutherland dual mono N1 linestage. Ron Sutherland added a bit of serendipity by using “Nixie” tubes for the display. The linestage and power supplies come in other two boxes. Total cost: $15,000.

Sutherland decided to standardize on a single chassis form for all his products to control costs. These two boxes could either be the dual mono linestage, the dual channel Phono Block phono stage ($10,000), or the Power Block monoblock power amplifiers ($10,000/pair). He also has introduced a new single box Insight phono stage ($1400) in the same form factor. It is a refined version of the PH3D with an SMPS power supply rather than batteries.

Cables were by EnKlein.
