Alan Tafel has posted a review of the Marantz SC-7S2 Reference Control Amplifier at The Absolute Sound titled "Think Pink" referencing the pink tinge to the casework of the amplifier. His conclusion:
Quibbles aside, the Marantz SC-7S2 is perhaps the best example extant of the old audio adage that a component’s sound is telegraphed by the color of its faceplate. The Reference’s look and sound both emanate warmth; each is as far as can be from silvery bright or forebodingly dark. Moreover, the many qualities I’ve catalogued do not, as in some components, call attention to themselves. Rather, they come together in a sound that is wholly organic. The result is a complete and coherent portrayal of the music, and that’s a sound I’ll take in any color of the rainbow.
