Nagra Presents New Jazz Preamplifier

October 12, 2012

Breaking with a tradition that has always seen its machines designated by a combination of three letters, Nagra presents its new preamplifier which carries the evocative name “JAZZ” and is destined to be a successor to the highly reputed Nagra PL-P and PL-L. It’s a way of paying homage to the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival where Nagra has been an important partner for many years.

Just like the Nagra PL-P and PL-L, the Nagra JAZZ is a valve preamplifier. However from this common starting point the electronics have been completely rethought with the aim of going further in every area of the design. The machine reaches new heights in terms of precision and stability. The noise threshold on the other hand, has been brought down to such low levels that the Nagra JAZZ now no longer needs the battery-driven power supply which was to be found on machines such as the PL-P. The new preamplifier draws its power from the high performance Nagra ACPS II external module.

The progress which has been achieved in the technical area clearly benefits the listening quality. The Nagra JAZZ offers exceptional transparency. It also creates a sound image which is deep, natural, highly defined and extremely rich in detail. The Nagra JAZZ is now available for delivery. The retail price in the US is $ 12,250, including remote control and Nagra custom made output balancing transformers.
