I guess I am too old to be politically correct, but I am not concerned in the least about there not being more women “audiophiles”. It’s a red herring. All you have to do is go to a music event - of any genre - and look out at the audience. Women are more than well represented, if not in the majority. Glance around you as you walk down the street. It may come as a shock, but both men and women have earbuds plugged into their iPhones. Ever driven your wife’s car? I bet the radio was on when you started it up. Women are clearly as interested in music as men, if not more so, which is what is important. Not that they may not share our fascination with electronic gizmos, fire hose cables, gargantuan loudspeakers, and voodoo tweaks. All of the hand-wringing sounds as if male audiophiles are seeking greater female involvement in the high-end as a form of validation. Are we so insecure in the legitimacy of our hobby? My suggestion: invite your wife or girlfriend or daughter out to a concert instead of an audio show. Celebrate the music. Celebrate the difference.
