Lamm introduced its new ML2.2 monoblocks.. These are an upgrade to its well received ML2.1s, and undoubtedly the bottom will fall of the market for them. Might be a good opportunity for someone who doesn’t have to have the latest iteration of whatever in their listening room to pick up a pair for a bargain.
Here you can see four of ML2.2s bi-amping the Verity Audio Lohengrin II loudspeakers ($95,995/pair). They were fronted by a Lamm LL1 Signature preamp ($42,690), Redpoint XX turntable ($75,000), and Neodio transport and DAC (together, $25,300). The setup would not have been complete without that $227,400 rat’s nest of power cables, interconnects and speaker cables from Stealth Audio, and the obligatory $40,000 of racks from Critical Mass. For $600,000 it should have sounded a whole lot better than it did. The word “ostentatious’ springs to mind.
Here is a close-up of the underside of a ML2.2 showing its construction.
