The Parasound Halo and Atlantic Technology Room

Parasound and Atlantic shared a room this year. Parasound Halo components are well regarded and beautifully made. Pictured are the A-52 multi-channel amplifier (top) and the A-23 stereo amplifier and P-7 preamplifier (bottom). None of these components were new for CES.

The big news, however, came from Atlantic Technology with the introduction of its AT-1 H-PAS speaker. H-PAS (Hybrid Pressure Acceleration System) is a new cabinet design technology incorporating elements of bass reflex, inverse horn and transmission line to provided deeper bass from smaller speakers and drivers. The AT-1 uses two 5.25″ bass drivers and a 1.125″ soft-dome tweeter. It achieves 29Hz (-3db) bass extension - really. It was astonishing to hear such deep articulate bass coming from a couple of small drivers. Atlantic Technology will be licensing H-PAS to other speaker manufacturers so keep you eye out for more developments.
