CES 2010 Coverage

Volent debuted its new Paragon VL-3.5 four-way floorstanding loudspeakers with Bladelius electronics. While they sounded good, they didn’t float my boat. The cabinetry , however, was beyond reproach.

Top to bottom, the older MSB Platinum DAC, the Bladelius Gondul Stereo Edition CD player which can be fitted with analog input boards eliminating the need for a separate preamplifier, and the Bladelius Ymer 300 watt/channel stereo amplifier.

The new Abis C-120 preamplifier from Japanese manufacturer Shungetsu handled the line level duties.

I am not certain but “Abis” may be a variation of “Ibis”, hence the reason why the amplifier is balancing on a one-legged stand. Just a guess.

All in all, a not so interesting mish-mash of components.
