I have a JL Audio F112 and love it. Here’s an exploded view which will give you some insight as to why:


 

 

 

 

The Fathom series comes in three sizes. Left to right are the F113 ($3,700), F110 ($2,200) and F112 ($2,900). The model number designates the size of the woofer.

They also offer a “double-stack: F112 - the F212 ($6100). I really like it when model numbers make sense.

If you need more bass and your house is structurally sound, step up to the Gotham ($12,000).

I think you get what you pay for.


 

 

Let’s face it: thes subs take up a lot of real estate, especially if you plan on optimizing the bass response of your room by using two or four. If you would like to use multiple subs in you listening room or home theater, have a confident self-image, and just want a clean look, you might consider using JL Audio’s new Fathom IWS subwoofer(s) ($4,500 each). The are self-contained and float freely in the wall cavity, thanks to some pretty clever engineering. They make using four subs manageable.
