The Linkwitz, MSB and Pass Labs Room
Don Naples of Wood Artistry demonstrated Siegfried Linkwitz’s open baffle Orion-4 loudspeakers ($14,750) to good effect tri-amped with Pass Labs amplifiers. This unadorned box houses the electronic crossover.
A Pass Labs X250.5 stereo amplifier ($8250) drove the four woofers, while a pair of Pass Labs XA30.5 Class A amplifiers ($5500 each) drove the midrange and tweeters.
Staying with Pass Labs, the XP-20 preamplifier with its power supply in a separate enclosure ($8600) handled switching and volume control duties.
A Marantz SA-7S1 was called into duty for playing SACDs.
For CDs, MSB Technologies filled the bill. Top to bottom are the MSB Signature Platinum DAC IV ($13,995) with optional volume control ($2295) and Femto Second Galaxy upgrade ($9950), which purports to reduce jitter to .077ps, the Signature Data CD transport ($3995), and the Signature Premium Power Base ($3495). For those counting, the total for the three components with options is $33,730.
The interconnects and power cables were from Snake River Audio. The speaker cables were proprietary.
