The Davone, KLIMO, Korg, and REL Room
The Signal Collection and MA Recordings sponsored a room showing off the diminutive Davone Mojo loudspeakers ($2299/pair) whose room filling sound (helped along by a small REL R328 subwoofer ($1799)) belied their size. I can’t tell you how relieved I was to see that the omni-directional dispersion element was made of beautifully turned wood instead of a pretentious Swarovski crystal employed by Trenner & Friedl in its six-figure loudspeakers I commented on in my coverage of CES 2011.
MA Recordings played back many of their minimalist miking technique recordings through a Korg MR2000s DSD recorder ($2499) and a KLIMO Merlino preamplifier ($6599).
The Davone Mojos were driven by a pair of KLIMO Tine Class A monoblocks ($8999/pair).
Black Cat supplied its Morpheus! interconnects ($127.50) and Morpheus! speakers cables ($350). The components rested on various flavors of Black Ravioli isolation devices ($120-$399). The racks were courtesy of the Omni Hotel.
