The Acapella, Bergmann and Ypsilon Room

The Acapella High Violoncello II horn loudspeakers ($80,000/pair) sounded much different to me than at previous shows. The high frequencies were considerably restrained. Perhaps they took heed of John Atkinson’s measurements from his recent review in Stereophile, which showed that the high frequencies from the plasma tweeter were hot. If so, I think Acapella over did it. They did not sound open and airy. Again, I’ll be interested in Michael Fremer’s comments as we were listening to the system at the same time. (He was demoing with a CD he brought along rather than an LP!)

The Bergmann Magne turntable with linear tracking tonearm ($12,000).

The Ypsilon CDT 100 CD player ($26,000) and PST 100 preamplifier ($37,000).

The Ypsilon DAC 100 ($29,000) and VPS 100 phono stage ($26,000) are identical looking. Guess which one this is.

One of a pair of 220 watt Ypsilon Aelius push-pull monoblocks (S72,000/pair).

All of the Ypsilon components are tubed.
