AXPONA 2011 Coverage

Another local dealer, Alternate Audio showed components from Asthetix, Audio Research, Ayre, ClearAudio, PSB, Vandersteen and Well Tempered, among others.

Shown below are the PSB Synchrony Two (inside, $3500/pair) and PSB Imagine T (outside, $1999/pair) loudspeakers driven by the Ayre AX-7e integrated amplifier (top, $3500) and the Ayre DX-5 universal Blu-ray player (bottom, $9950). A PSB SubSeries 300 subwoofer ($899) was on display but not connected.

The big rig in the room was outfitted with a of a pair of Vandersteen 2CEi loudspeakers ($2195).

The ClearAudio Innovation turntable ($10,000) was paired with the Aesthetix Rhea phono preamp ($4000).

The considerably less expensive Well Tempered Amadeus turntable ($2800) was paired with the considerably more expensive Audio Research PH8 phono preamp ($6995) which was introduced at CES 2011.

The preamplifier was an Audio Research LS27 ($6995) driving a Ayre V-5Xe stereo power amplifier($4950).
