The Qualia and Spiral Groove Room

Newcomer Qualia and Spiral Groove partnered again as they did at T.H.E. Show in January, with Spiral Groove providing the Allegro 2.0 loudspeakers (price unknown), the e60A power amplifier ($15,000) and the ever popular SG2 turntable ($15,000) and SG tonearm ($6000).

Qualia supplied their two-box Preference preamplifier.

Here are the photos of the internals of the preamplifier (top) and power supply (bottom) showing high-quality construction.

Silver discs were spun with a Goldmund Eidos 36T (€42,110) and an Audio Research Reference CD8 ($9995) CD players.

I didn’t think the room sounded very good, probably as a result of speaker placement and room acoustics. I also think the speakers were played too loud and were not up to the task of filling the large ballroom.
