The MBL Room

For the first time, I was disappointed with the MBL room. It was dark and uninviting, the room was bizarre with a balcony in it, the equipment was dusty, and the sound was amorphous. What were they thinking? John Atkinson thought they solved the room acoustic. I demur. I only stayed a couple of minutes.

The speakers were the 101E Mk.2s ($59,900), driven by 9011 monoblock amplifiers ($30,300/pair), with a 6010D preamp ($23,800), 1621A CD transport ($24,000), and 1611F DAC ($24,750) upstream.

Does anyone think it is odd that these omnidirectional speakers are toe-ed in?
