There is a natural synergy with electrostatics and tubes which is why this room sounded exceptional. KingSound is really making a splash with its line of panels, and VAC can’t be faulted.
Shown below are the KingSound King 11 electrostatics ($11,500/pair).
The VPI Classic turntable is, well, classic and a true bargain ($2750).
The Accuphase DD-85 SACD player ($16,500) didn’t see much action.
The VAC Signature Mk 11 triode preamplifier ($14,000) was elegant in its shiny black finish, gold knobs and blue logo.
It’s a shame the reflection of the carpet mars the appearance of the VAC Statement 450 stereo power amplifier ($39,900).
On the other side of the room were the slightly more demure KingSound Price II electrostatics ($6000).
This time it was the moderately priced Marantz SA8001 SACD player ($999) providing the music in lieu of the VPI Classic.
The system was powered by the vastly more affordable VAC Sigma 160i integrated amplifier ($9990) which includes a phono stage.
