The BAT and Revel Room

At the other end of the large ballroom, the dealer had set up a pair of Revel Salon2s ($22,000). Although he had originally planned to use a Cary preamp and power amp, the power amp turned out to be under-powered for the room. Instead he turned to BAT. Nordost cables laced up the system. That’s the legendary mastering engineer Bob Katz who, in addition to participating on panels, served as DJ playing selected cuts from albums he has mastered over the years.

The solid state BAT VK-250 ($5,995) provided plenty of power for the low impedance Salon2s.

The Cary SLP-05 two chassis preamp ($8,000) was up to the task.

The Cary CAD 120S ($5,500) was not.

Various equipment from Cary, dcs, Metric Halo and Z-Systems alternated as the source.
