This was an unusual room. The Peachtree Nova ($1,199) at top left was driving the Davone RITHM speakers ($5,595) to the far left and right. I was surprised at how good the setup actually sounded, though you really have to try hard to like the arched styling of the Davones. I can easily think of better systems at this price level. The black two-way Gemme Audio Katana’s ($10,000) have potential, but again there is lots of competition at this price point. The Rega P3-24 with Elys 2 cartridge (together, $1,095) to the right of the Peachtree Nova was not in use when I was in the room.
The Katanas were connected to an all McIntosh system comprised of the C220 preamp ($4,000), the MC275 75 watts/channel power amp ($4,500), and the MS750 music server ($6,000) hidden behind the right door.
I think a $25,000 system deserves to sound better, but maybe itis just the ticket for a McIntosh devotee.
