Magico introduced its flagship Q7 loudspeakers ($165,000). I have no idea what they sound like at normal listening levels. When I was there, someone wanted to hear how they sound when played back at high volume. Alon Wolf, Irv Gross and I stood in an adjacent room, while Alon reached around the door jamb with the remote to crank up the Spectral preamp and amplifier. With a sensitivity of 94db, it didn’t take many watts to cause pain. Is this the Magico for the SET crowd?
Also on static display were a red a a black version of Magico’s new S5 loudspeaker with extruded (rather than machined) sides ($28,600/pair). They come in a variety of anodized colors. The Magico for everyman.
