Sony’s SS-AR1 loudspeakers ($27,000) have never failed to impress me. Paired up with a duo of massive Pass Labs X600.5 monoblocks ($20,000/pair), the sound was simply effortless, even at elevated levels.
Pass Labs also supplied its XP-20 preamplifier ($8600).
Music was sourced with the EMM Labs XDS1 SACD player ($25,000).
Now Sony has introduced its smaller and less expensive stable mate - the SS-AR2 ($20,000/pair). In this photo, you can clearly see its smaller size compared to the SS-AR1, yet there is no mistaking its provenance.
